Description:
Comparable to a modern hand jack. Hand cranked with a lock at each stage of elevation. The Madrid Codex also illustrates a screw jack.

This model Jack is very similar to the modern hand jack. A series of hand-cranked gears raise the sturdy rack which has been designed with an attached lifting foot. The gear application is so ingenious it cr[e]ates a secure lock at each desired elevation. - Dr. Roberto A. Guatelli
