Description:
This small knife sheath is made of hide that has been beaded with primarily blue glass seed beads. Rows of dark blue, yellow, and red triangles are seen on one side of the sheath, whereas the other side is sparsely decorated in contrast. This "plain" side consists of exposed hide, a horizontal line of red beads, three horizontal lines of blue beads, and a green and white border. Small pieces of buckskin dangle from the sheath, and were used to secure the item to a piece of clothing or another object. As a decorative and utilitarian item, the sheath was used to fashionably protect oneself from a sharp blade. AP2018
