Description: United States Springfield flintlock musket. Model 1821 - sometimes termed Model 1822. Three bands on the barrel, swivel rings, 6 3/4" lock plate, ramrod missing, 16" bayonet. This musket was the first flintlock, smooth bore musket to be made on the interchangeable parts system. With slight changes, it was made in large quantities until 1840, and was used up to the Civil War. Marked on lock plate "Springfield". Length of barrel: 42" Weight: 9 lbs S stamped on under side of butt
