Description: Percussion cap muzzle loading Springfield rifle, with 31 3/4" round barrel, 5/8 bore. Ash stock whch has been cut off 17 3/8" from muzzle. Plain brass butt plate and trigger guard, one flat swivel on band, set sights rear and front, swivel on trigger guard missing. Marked on hammer plate: SPRINGFIELD 1851. Indistinctly marked on barrel "6 V 928". S stamped on under side of butt.
