SKINNER CATALOGUE:
A native spear from Northern Rhodesia, South Africa. This weapon may be a spear, but certainly it has little offensive value, as the hand forged head is small, the point is definitely rounded, and the edges are thick, with no cutting edge. The head widens out into a deep socket, into which the wooden handle is driven. At the butt end the handle bulges out into an elongated knob, which is studded with brass headed upholstery tacks. The whole looks like a ceremonial weapon and is not as old as spears L.A.1.7/L.A.1.10. Head: 4" x 23/32". Cat. 6/3/1937.
