A tooth key, with double claw. "After separating the gum from the tooth, the claw is fixed as deep between the tooth and gum as possible. The fulcrum, covered with a rag, is then applied on the opposite side, when with one turn of the handle, which should be most cautious and slow, the tooth is pulled out at once." -Encyclopaedia Britannica, 1797.
