Description:
English hand-colored mezzotint of Queen Charlotte seated on a red chair titled: "Charlotte Queen of Great Britain/ Published 1rst Octr 1790, by Robt Sayer, No. 53 Fleet Street, London." The print, in its original frame, descended in the family of Susan Minot Lane (1832-1893), life-long friend and companion of Miss C. Alice Baker (1833-1909). From his premises in Fleet Street, Robert Sayer (1725-1794) traded as a print seller and map publisher under his own name from the 1740s until his death, or in partnership with his former apprentice, John Bennett (d.1787) from 1774 to around 1785.
