Description: English pearlware jug with a wheel-thrown globular body and applied handle, which is decorated with silver luster, a black transfer print, and gilding. The black print, shown on both sides, depicts a country scene of a mill and man on horseback. The initials "L. M." and the date "1813" over two fronds and a bow are painted in gold underneath the spout. Silver luster is really a misnomer since a more accurate description is platinum luster since platinum salts are used in the manufacture.
