Description: Framed line engraving on copper plate of a left profile view of George I (1660-1727), King of Great Britain and Ireland from 1 August 1714 until his death, and ruler of Hanover in the Holy Roman Empire from 1698, which was done by Cheveau Junior of Paris after a 1714 portrait of George I by Sir Godfrey Kneller (1646-1723), the leading portrait painter in England during the late 17th and early 18th centuries and court painter to British monarchs from Charles II (1630-1685) to George I. The engraving as a coat of arms with the motto "HONI .Soit . QUI . MAL . Y. PENSE" and the motto "DIEU ET MON DROIT" in the bottom center; and "GEORGIUS D. G. / FRANCIAE ET / FIDEI / Brun.& Lunen: Dux S.R. I. / Inauguratus XX. die / Kne ller Baronet de Mag Britani / et S.R Imp Eques pina" in the left corner and "MAG. BRITANNIAE / HIBERN REX / DEFENSOR / Arch Telan & Electr. / Octobris 1714 / ab originali Cheveau Junior Sculp." in the right corner.
