Description: Silver spoon with an upturned spatulate-end handle with a midrib and oval bowl with a rattail, which is marked "E.S" in a rectangle attributed to Enoch Stanton (1745-1781), and engraved with the initials "M+ D" on the back of the handle. Born in Stonington, Enoch worked by himself and in partnership with his brother Daniel Stanton (1755-1781) and Zebulon Stanton (1753-1828) as D.E. & Z. Stanton from c.1775-c.1780. Both Enoch and Daniel were killed in the defence of Fort Grisowld, Groton, Connecticut, in 1781.
