Description: Two tapersticks with octagonal multi-faceted bases, that have a wide rim around the socket lip and baluster-turned stem. Schiffer states that "The faceting of the base... are an early English detail. French Hugonot refugees, after, 1885, flooded England, Holland, Switzerland, and the American colonies. Many of these were craftsmen. The silversmiths effected the styles of brass and so we have a slightly watered down French design becoming an English standard."
