Description: Silver dram cup with two loop handles marked "WC" in roman letters in a rectangle for William Cowell Sr. (1682-1736). A dram cup is a small shallow dish, usually with two loop handles, only two or three inches in diameter, which is are very close in form and decoration to the wine tasters popular in England around the middle of the 17th century. This form of cup varied in size and some had covers. This cup came from Mrs. Gregory S. Prince, the daughter of Edward E. Minor, an American silver collector.
