Description:
Tintype portrait of a young man in a velvet lined, pressed leather case. Folded inside the case is a newspaper article entitled, "Another South Deerfield Soldier Fallen" from 1864 describing the death of William H. Todd, presumed to be the subject of the portrait. William H. Todd is listed among the soldiers who died in the Civil War in The History of the Connecticut Valley In Massachusetts (1879).
