Description:
Letter related to the family of Sanders Ken Grems Nellis (1817-1865). The letter reads: "Bank of Cleveland 1839 / Cleveland, Aug [?] 9 1839 / Dear Uncle / That you may see what kind of an / establishment I am in I send above our / statement which we are obliged to make to / our legislature. / We have just had a very pleasant / visit from Mr & Mrs Fist and their son-- / he explains his not calling on you and I think / satisfactorily. / Say to our falks we are very well and / send love to all. / truly yours / J Rockwell / S Leonard Esq". The outside reads: " James Rockwell / 1 January---39 / Statement of Bank / FREE / S Leonard Esq[?] / Lowville / Lewis Co / N Y": The letter is written on a letter-headed staionary and is stamped "Cleveland Jan 9"
