Description:
"Sergeant David Hamilton," Fort Number Four (Charelstown), New Hampshire. Although this horn is cut down it is included because of its engraving and because of the importance of its carver. Its calligraphy is in the same style as that on the Selkrig and Page horns (#24&25), but the lettering of the verse differs slightly and formations of soldiers are absent. The exquisite illumination of the motto is identical and beautiful floral and vine designs cover the horn's surace. The scallopped edge is not as well executed as on the other two horns, but it does have a high quality floral border. This may have been used as a priming horn after it was cut down.
