Description:
Card table with a square folded top, serpentine front and ends, ovolo corners over colonettes, and four turned and reeded legs ending in tapered feet, which is attributed to John or Thomas Seymour, working in Boston from 1793-1813. The apron has a center oval tablet in bird's-eye maple and mahogany surrounded by stringing and flanked by two rectangular tablets, and half-lunette inlays along the top and apron edges. The two front legs terminate without rings, and the rear legs have four rings at the upper juncture. "II" is chisel-marked on the inner underside of the table and underside of the front rail. The corner blocks are white pine, the apron is probably cherry and birch. The inside rear of the apron is white pine.
