Description: Brass and steel fender footman, where the wrought iron frame supports the sliding rectangular brass platform with its center pierced 6-pointed star. Don Fennimore notes that this is a multipurpose form: "Smoothing irons may be heated, a saucepan boiled, water warmed, bread toasted, apples roasted, and a tea or coffee-pot, or a small kettle kept hot on a footman."
