Label Text:
A comparison between PAJAMA photographs and French's paintings reveals that he often used photographs as studies for paintings. Untitled (Crouching Male Nude on the Beach) is reminiscent of French's sketch of a crouching man (AC 2012.129). What painting the photograph and sketch were in preparation for, if any, is unknown.
