horizontal ōban, with trimming along left margin; nishiki-e; fūkeiga

Label Text:
While the left margin is no visible on this impression, other impressions (see Honolulu Museum of Art acc. no. 24162 and Auckland Art Gallery, New Zealand, acc. no. M73) bear the seals of publisher Maruya Jinpachi, then of the firm Tōkokudō, and of the censor of Tanaka Heishirō; the latter is known to have sealed for only a few months in late 1843 and has thus been used as the basis for dating this print.
