Description: half of a vertical aiban sheet; bijinga; likely an artist's proof or key block
Label Text: This print is signed at lower middle-right "Shikō ga" ['drawn by Shikō'], a name used by Chōki in the early 1780s and again from roughly 1796–1801, the period to which this print dates. The seal of publisher Tsutaya Jūzaburō of the firm Kōshodō, can be found at lower-right.
This print is un-colored and does not bear the seal of the official censor. As such, it was likely an artist's proof or the "key block" for this design: the black outlines of the design that are used to guide placement and in the creation of the separate blocks needed for each color.
