Description:
Framed miniature portrait of Lucinda Johnson (1804-1846), the daughter of Sylvanus Johnson (1861-1831) of Holliston, Massachusetts, and Mercy Smith of Shrewsbury, Vermont, who married Horatio Nelson Carlton (1798-1846) in 1823. Their daughter Mary Adeline (b.1827) married Martin Stoddard Howard (1830-1919) in 1855, and their great-grandson was the donor Martin S. Howard of Steubenville, Ohio.
