Description:
Silver tablespoon with a pointed oval bowl, rounded shoulders, and upturned double-swell fiddle handle with a short front mid-rib, which is marked "J.G.L. Libby" in a rectangle for Jacob George Lewis Libby (1797-1847) who worked as a silversmith and jeweler in Boston from 1820-1846, and engraved with the initials "MES"(?) on the back of the handle. The spoon was part of a collection of silver spoons from the Viola Wilby estate. See also teaspoons, HD 2009.26.1.-.2.
