Description:
Silver tablespoon with an elliptical bowl and double rounded drop over an eleven-lobed shell; thick hemispherical shaft to an upturned spatualte-end handle; and long midrib on the front of the handle. The spoon is marked "E+H" in a rectangle for Eliakem Hitchcock (1726-1788), and engraved with the initials "EE" in block letters on the back of the ribbed handle. Hitchcock worked in Cheshire, Connecticut,, from c.1757-1774 and 1788, and in New Haven, Connecticut, from c.1776-1787.
