Description:
Portrait of a seated male with hat and walking stick.
In 1933, Dr. Karl Schwarz, an art historian who was then head of the Jewish Museum in Berlin, (The first Jewish Museum in Berlin was founded on 24 January 1933, under the leadership of Karl Schwartz, six days before the Nazis officially gained power) only months later he immigrated to Palestine to run the Tel Aviv Museum, at the invitation of Tel Aviv Mayor Meir Dizengoff. Dr. Schwarz’s tenure lasted until 1947.
The finished painting of the same subject is at the Milwaukee art museum.
