Description:
Two piece child's dress, worn by a little girl who was born in 1861. black silk 3/4 length pinafore over orange wool dress with black print. Sleeveless pinafore has hook and eye closure down the center back (to waist) with black decorative buttons on top of the closure. A scalloped ruffle trims the wide square neckline, the armscye, and the hem. Princess style. The orange wool dress closes with buttons down the back to the waist. Inverted pleats at the skirt waist. Dress also has a square neckline and has capped sleeves, both edged with Van Dyke hand embroidery. 2 and3/4" facing of tan chintz on bottom of full pleated skirt. Measurements: dress back neck hem 27"
