Description:
Two-handled wooden glove stretchers with a steel spring. Up until the late 20th century, gloves formed a necessary part of a woman’s public appearance. Because the hallmark of a well-dressed woman included gloves that fit well, tools such as this example were often needed. Inserting the narrow end into the glove and pressing down on the handles at the wider end forced the leather glove to stretch, thereby making it easier to insert the hand.
