Description:
Female doll, articulated, painted and carved wooden body and head, wearing a two-piece cream silk dress decorated with polychrome chine floral design. Basque-style bodice edged with lace. Full skirt is gathered along four horizontal cords for fullness. Underclothes consist of lace-edged pantaloons and a short (knee-length), lace-edged petticoat. Given to donor's mother by Margaret C. Whiting (1860-1946), one of the founders of the Deerfield Society of Blue and White Needlework (1896-1926).
