Description:
Sleeveless evening dress worn by Helen Geier Flynt (1895-1986) during the 1960s. Helen, along with her husband Henry N. Flynt (1893-1970), founded the Heritage Foundation, later Historic Deerfield, in 1952. The garment contains the "Frederick's" label, a store frequented by Flynt in Spring Lake, New Jersey, a summer destination for the couple. Frederick's sold American-manufactured items of apparel as well as a selection of garments imported from other countries. The store also had a custom department for new designs and alterations.
