Description:
Woman's belt made of cream-colored grosgrain ribbon with a dense woven floral pattern in yellow, gold, lavender, and pink. The original metal hooks and eyes to fasten the belt are now missing. Ribbon belts were a popular, decorative accessory for women's gowns during the 1820s and 1830s, when styles called for elevated waistlines. Accessories like ribbon belts were a relatively affordable way to update an appearance, and they could be worn with more than one gown. These belts were usually secured by a decorative buckle in front.
