Description:
Carboy in the shape of a large, long-necked, bulbous-bodied vase with a removable ball-shaped top and a tapered, molded foot. Carboys were used in apothecary shops, and were filled with colored water or other liquids to act as displays. According to Ken Wilson, glass scholar, on a visit in April 1979, this glass bottle or carboy would be used by an apothecary and would be filled with colored water and placed in the apothecary's shop window, c. 1820-1840.
