Description:
The account book of the "Female Charitable Society at Prescott," from 1830. "1835 - At the annual meeting of this society the Rev Mr Clapp of Enfield... He told them of the degraded state of the females in distant India; of the sufferings they endured,..." "...the following officers were chosen. -Mrs. Stacy Linzie President. Semanthe Keith Secretary. Mrs. Dea Colton, Treasurer." Final entry: "Prescott December 12th 1856...The object of the Society shall be to paint the Orthodox Congregational Church in Prescott, and if they are not able to raise a sum sufficient for that purpose, what is raised shall go for lighting said Church."
