Label Text:
The drawing is for the mural located in Athens, Georgia at the McDonough Post Office and was commissioned by the Section of Fine Arts, Public Building Administration, Washington, DC. In compliance with the standards for subject matter in public murals, the general theme for this mural is cotton, agricultural implements and manufacture of overalls. Jean Charlot was artist-in-residence at the University of Georgia, Athens, Georgia through a generous grant by the Carnegie Corporation from 1941 through 1943.
