Description:
English circular pewter plate, scratched on the back "Hoyt" and the touchmarks "ROB: & THO" and "X". The maker's mark, which has been rubbed, was struck circa 1762 for Robert & Thomas Porteous of Gracechurch Street, London, successors to Richard King. This may be one of five pewter plates (see HD 64.353) given by Mrs. Henry King Hoyt of Deerfield (born Catherine Wells, 1805-1891) to PVMA, listed as "304. Five Pewter Plates."; it was found in 1984 by Maintenance.
