Description:
Oval silver salt with a fluted rim edge and supported on four pad feet attached to the body with shell, which is marked "RH" in an oval for Robert Hennell I (1741-1811) of London, and with the date letter "T" for 1774-1775, lion passant, and crowned leopard's head; and engraved with the letter "B" engraved on one side. Robert Hennell I was a second-generation member of a long-standing family of goldsmiths who are particularly noted for pierced domestic silver such as salts, cruets and bottle stands.
