Description:
"The Holy Bible" printed in "OXFORD / Printed by T. Wright and W. Gill, Pinters to the UNIVERSITY: / Sold by S. Crowder, in Paternoster Row, London; and W. Jackson in Oxford. 1773." The inside back cover is inscribed, "Mr. C. Allen Deerfield 10/" in black ink; over "Bible belonging to Oliver Starr" in blue ink written by the donor, Miss Josephine Starr. The son of William Starr (1757-1831 of Deerfield, Oliver Starr (1791-1870) married Lavinia Allen (1786-1864), the daughter of Caleb Allen (1737-1807) of the Bars, who was "Mr. C. Allen." The title page and first section of Genesis are missing. There is also a page (217-218) from a Hymn book, one side titled, "A Table to find any HYMN by the first Line."
