Description:

Label Text:
In her work, Porter explores the subtlety of paradoxes. She once said, “I am interested in the simultaneity of humor and distress, banality and the possibility of meaning.” Often positioned against a white background, her subjects seem in focus and alienated at the same time, drawing in the viewer while simultaneously rejecting any reading. Here, by weaving a piece of yarn into the paper, she cleverly brings to life unidentifiable inanimate objects.
