Description:
Silver tablespoon with an elliptical bowl (break in side) with a rounded drop over a 15-lobed shell; and a straight narrow hemispherical shaft tapered to wide upturned rounded-end handle with a pronounced midrib on the front of the handle. The spoon is marked "B....T" twice in a serrated rectangle for Benjamin Tappan (1747-1831), and engraved with the initials "S*P" in block letters on back of handle tip, and with the later-engraved date "1780" vertically on the back of the handle.
