Label Text:
This print is signed at lower-right "Gototei Kunisada ga" ('drawn by Gototei Kunisada'). Immediately to the left of the signature are the circular kiwame seal of the official censor and the mark of publisher Matsumura Tatsuemon: a stylized kanji for "matsu" beneath a triple-peaked mountain. The actor and his role are identified by the text at left.

The Boston MFA holds a complete version of the triptych (acc. no. 2009.5117a-c), which also features the actors Matsumoto Kōshirō V (left panel) and Bandō Mitsugorō III (right panel).
