Man's morning coat of black wool faille. Edges, cuffs, vent and breast pocket are trimmed in black braid 1/8" wide. The coat has a turned down collar with high, V-notched lapels. There are three fabric-covered buttons (fourth one near waistseam is missing on proper right side) corresponding to four worked button holes on proper left. The coat has a waist seam, from which the front edges slope down towards the back skirt. A welt breast pocket, proper left side, is lined in a brown cotton twill. Slightly dropped shoulder seams, to back of armscyes. Coat has a CB seam flanked by a curved back side seam on each side. There is also a side seam on each side that angles towards the back of the coat. All these seams end at the waist seam, with th eexception of the back side seams, which extend int the skirt, in the form of pleats. Each pleat in the skirt has a self fabric covered button at the top, and matching braid on the hem. The CB coat seam ends as a vent in the skirt, with the proper left side folded over the proper right. The coat has set-in sleeves. Each sleeve has a front and back lower seam, the latter curving the shape of the sleeve to accomodate the natural bend in the wearer's arm. Each cuff is defined by a strip of braid 2 1/2" up from end of sleeve. There are two matching self-fabric covered buttons at each cuff, which are for decoration only. The inside of the coat is lined with black sateen. panels of lining construction match the panels of fabric on the outside of the garment. Inside pockets at proper left (by waist seam) and proper right (at breast). Sleeves are lined in a tan or off-white sateen printed with pairs of blue and red interlocking squares. Hand stitched and machine sewn.
