Description:
Woman's one piece printed apron in a plain weave cotton printed to have circle/egg-like designs in two colors against a red background. Each design is about 1/4", spaced about 1/8"-1/4" apart and outlined in black and half light-tan, half dark-tan. The skirt of the apron is short, about 17 1/4" and is gathered along a waistband, 1" long, which would be tied around the wearer's waist, in back. The apron skirt is seamed on both sides (not matching, however). The proper right side also has an additional piece. The apron edge is stitched in a overcast stitch on either side, except for the top half of proper right side, which is a selvage. The bottom of the skirt is hemmed (1" deep) using a fairly long running stitch, at 6 stitches per inch. Proper left seam is selvage to selvage, using tan-colored thread. Proper right seam is raw edge to raw edge, and uses brownish and tan colored thread. The waistband is pieced, and has a width of 24 7/8". No evidence of tying or pinning. A child's apron? Good condition. Some general fading (esp. lower center) and some staining. 1/8" hole at top CF of skirt, as well as one on each side of lower skirt.
