Description:
Print inscribed on the bottom "Engraved for J. Teal's Edition / ADAM NAMING THE CREATION./ Whatsoever Adam called every living Creature that was the Name thereof. GENESIS II.XIX. / Engraved by O. H. Throop No 14 Cornhill. Boston. 1823. for J. Teal's Edition" in an early, possibly original frame and old backing board with machine cut nails. The molded frame is gilded with two ring hanging hooks screwed into the top of frame. The engraving depicts Adam naming all the many pairs of different animals as he stands in a landscape in a beam of sunlight near a stream. Condition: Frame has losses to the bottom edge and right edge, the print is stained overall but has some water damage in the lower right corner and upper edge and left edge. Print is dirty inside frame.
