Description:
Pair of patens with shoes (2006.24.1) with wooden platforms set on an iron ring that is fastened to the sole. Starting in the 17th century, pattens were used to keep feet free from mud and slush. One top (missing on the other) has two leather straps nailed to the sides used to secure the shoe.
