Description:
Pair of men's slippers made of wool ingrain carpet fragments in a woven design in olive gree, red, salmon, and white, and leather soles. The rich colors are the result of dying the wool yarn before it was woven into cloth for a carpet. Threads were unraveled, twisted into cords, and then made into tassels that are used to hold the shoes in place. There is a long tradition of recyling household textiles amongst the French Canadians.
