Description:
Child's (girl's) quilted winter bonnet or hood in a wool/linen blend with silk trim, wool yarn, and a cotton lining. The bonnet is decorated with red and blue wool yarn florets arranged in diagonal rows; and a gauzy pink and white ribbon bow covers the gathers at the back of the hood, just above the 3.5" bavolet covering the neck. There is a silk ribbon lining just inside brim (white with sage green and peach decorations, which appears to be the same ribbon used for small exterior bow). The lining is a somewhat coarse printed cotton-blue and white stylized leaf pattern. The outer layer is blue wool warp and white linen weft; the inner layer may be wool or cotton, which has a lilac tint. The strings that close the cap tight to the head are for the most part missing (were red wool).
