Description: Pressed colorless glass dish, pressed probably upright in a female mold with the pattern by a plain male plunger so that the upper surface is smooth and the pressed design in relief is on the underside. Many fragments with this so-called rayed peacock-feather-eye pattern have been found in various forms and sizes at the Boston and Sandwich Glass Company factory site. However, the pattern was also produced by M'Kee and Brothers in many forms, and is illustrated in their 1859 catalogue as the "Ray" pattern; it was probably made by them until about 1865. The circular dish has a scalloped rim with a coggled edge; beaded oval medallions with diamond diapering alternating with crossed comets topped with large round bull's eyes framing a diamond, all with diamond diapering and against a stipped ground; and triple-rib and stippled rays in the well.
