Description:
Stepped-top chest of drawers or china chest, in maple and pine, covered with old red paint. The stepped top, three-drawer case, which was made to display valuable pieces such as ceramics, slides into grooves on top board of the chest. The lower chest is topped by molding over seven graduated drawers; over four molded bracket feet and a center, carved shell drop pendant. There are keyholes on the two lower drawers of the stepped-top, and on the top drawer and bottom three drawers of the chest. The chest may not have pulls or brasses originally; and later pulls and brasses were removed, as was the later painted decoration.
