Description:
Chest with three simulated drawers over one real drawer and with the original painted decoration. The lid has a single arch molding and is attached with snipe hinges. The front is covered with half-round forms painted red and branching foliage in greens and reds with flowers on the top and bottom "drawers." The bail brasses were added later. There is characteristic heavy molding on the base, with ball feet at the front and rectangular feet at the back. The rear feet are oak blocks, which are tenoned into the bottom of the case to leave the visual impression that the chest is joined and that they run the height of the object. The chest is constructed with heavy dove-tailing and hand-made nails.
