Description:
Polaroid of calendar girl with montage of boy eating an apple.

Label Text:
For his large-scale Polaroids, Farber often recycled images of children, which he adapted from photographs published in children’s books of the 1930s. Here he positioned a reproduction of a boy eating an apple, symbolic of original sin, next to a photograph of a pin-up girl. The use of photomontage and its resulting erotic connotation distorts the assumption of childhood innocence. Likewise, it challenges the truthfulness of photography as a medium.
