Description:
Silver teaspoon with a spatulate-end handle with a midrib and elliptical bowl with a long rounded drop, which is marked "IH" in a wavy-edged rectangle for Jacob Hurd, and engraved with the intials "H B" on the back of the handle. Jacob Hurd has long been recognized as one of the leading New England silversmiths of the mid-18th century. The patriarch of a prominent Boston silversmithing family, he produced a wide range of tablewares in the Queen Anne style.
