Description:
Family Register of the Barrett family of Northfield, Massachusetts, done in silk embroidery on a plain linen ground "wrought by Elizabeth E. Barrett." Elizabeth E. Barrett (1792-1814) was the daughter of John Barrett (1786-1816) and Martha Dickinson Barrett (b.1761) of Northfield, Massachusetts, who married in 1790. The register lists: "*John Barrett Born Aug 16th 1756 / + Marth Dickinson Born Oct 18th 1761 / and were Married Oct 29th 1790 / Mary Barrett Born July 19th 1791 / II Elizabeth E. Barrett (1794-1804). Both this register and one done by Elizabeth's and Martha's sister, Charlotte Collins Barrett (b.1796), in 1805 and who married Franklin Ripley (1789-1860) of Greenfield, Massachusetts, in 1814, are listed in "American Samplers." The typed text of Charlotte's family register was attached to the back of the frame of Elizabeth's family register (now in data file). The current whereabouts of Charlotte's family register is unknown, but was mentioned by a Bill Lashmit in a web posting in 1999. PVMA's Memorial Hall Museum has Barrett family silhouettes done in 1806.
